Our Fifteenth Month - Nov 2019

I've come to learn that the perception of growth can sometimes get in the way of genuine growth

A quick summary of the basic numbers in November...

18 Appraisals Completed
7 Listings Signed
6 Contracts Negotiated

What do the above numbers tell me? They tell me that the local property market in the beginning of 2020 is going to be just as fruitful as the end of 2019 - positive news for all the property owners in our great city. Currently speaking (as I write this on the 4th of December 2019), I can definitely sense the market starting to wind down for Christmas - there's still things happening, just the intensity has dropped a little bit and people seem a little tired... personally, I like this time of the year; it gives me time to reflect on the time passed and the learnings of the year. It also gives the opportunity to finalise plans & ideas for the upcoming year ahead.

Whenever I write one of these blogs it has me thinking about the month passed, and when I think about November - the biggest standout moment was David exiting the business and the self learning that followed. For me, it made me stop and remember; I started this business with one goal... to be happy and to feel energised about what I'm doing everyday. The fun part about that goal, is that happiness and feeling energised isn't always easy to clearly define with a set of numbers; so I often have to force myself to slow down and trust my instinct instead. The lesson that my business continually seems to find different ways of teaching me, is that for me & my personal character; it's a delicate balance of quality & quantity - not just in the day to day tasks but also in the people I have around me. I've come to learn that the perception of growth can sometimes get in the way of genuine growth - a bit like the turnover vs profit debate, sometimes I think we get really 'busy' but make no real progress... I hate that feeling; I always need to feel that we're learning & progressing.

Overall, I have zero malice for anyone who's worked with me and has moved on for one reason or another - I sincerely wish each one of them well & genuinely hope that they're happier in the roles/lives they've moved on too. For me personally, I can assure each person that's reading this that I've ever worked with in the past, that I've taken learnings and experience that have helped me get to the point where I am today - so I'll be forever grateful because I'm in a really happy place.

So for now, it's just me listing and selling at Ecology Property with the unwavering support of Allie & Rhiannon. Orlo helps sometimes too. How long will it stay this way? More on that on the next blog
